Delete your Grow Your Own account

Request deletion without the App

You do not need to install or sign in to the App to request account deletion. Email support@growyourownguide.net with the subject Grow Your Own account deletion request and ask us to delete your account and associated data.

Send the request from the email address registered to your account so we can verify ownership. If you no longer have access to that address, include the account's email address and explain this in your request; support will guide you through ownership verification. Do not send your password or sign-in verification codes. Ownership must be verified before the request can be processed. Sending an email starts a request; it does not automatically delete your account.

Delete your account in the App

Open Settings > Data > Delete Account and confirm deletion. This action is permanent. If you want to keep a copy of your records, use Export Data in the same Data section before deleting your account.

Data removed and retention

Account deletion removes these records from the App's active database:

The deletion process also requests removal of your uploaded journal, plant-health and milestone photos, their thumbnails, and your profile photo from the App's storage.

There is no additional scheduled retention period for the account records listed above: they are removed when account deletion completes. Shared educational content and predefined strain catalog entries remain available because they are not private account records. Deletion does not remove copies you have exported or saved outside the App.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a new grow?

To create a new grow, tap the "+" button on the home screen or go to the Grows tab and tap "New Grow". Enter your plant details including strain name, genetics type, growing medium, environment type, and light source. You can choose from our predefined strain database or enter a custom strain.

What should I do after creating my first grow?

After creating a grow, start by taking your first photo and adding an initial log entry. This establishes your baseline. Then set up reminders for watering and feeding schedules. Check the Learn tab for stage-specific guidance to help you through each growth phase.

What are the growth stages and how do they work?

Grow Your Own tracks 8 growth stages: Germination, Seedling, Vegetative, Pre-flower, Flower, Flush, Harvest, and Cure. The app automatically tracks how long your plant has been in each stage. You can manually advance stages when your plant is ready by tapping the current stage indicator and selecting the next stage.

Can I edit my grow details after creation?

Yes! Tap on any grow to open it, then tap the settings icon or "Edit" button. You can update the strain, growing medium, environment type, light source, and other details at any time. Changes are saved automatically.

Can I track multiple grows at once?

Absolutely! You can create and track unlimited grows simultaneously. Each grow has its own timeline, journal entries, and reminders. Use the Grows tab to see all your active grows and switch between them easily.

How do I mark a grow as complete?

When your plant reaches the final stage and you're finished curing, go to the grow settings and tap "Complete Grow". Completed grows move to your history where you can review them anytime. This keeps your active grows list clean while preserving your records.

How do I log a daily entry?

Open your grow and tap the "+" button or "Add Entry". You can add photos from your camera or photo library, select a note template (Watering, Feeding, Training/Pruning), record environmental data, and add tags. Entries are timestamped automatically and appear in your grow timeline.

What are the best practices for taking photos?

For the best results: Use consistent lighting and angles across photos. Take both wide shots of the whole plant and close-ups of leaves/buds. Capture photos at the same time each day for accurate comparison. The app supports multiple photos per entry to document different aspects.

What are note templates?

Note templates help you quickly log common activities. Templates include Watering (with amount), Feeding (with nutrients), Training/Pruning activities, and stage-specific templates. Templates pre-fill relevant fields so you can log faster while maintaining detailed records.

How do I track environmental data?

When creating a log entry, tap "Add Environmental Data" to record temperature, humidity, pH, and EC/TDS/PPM values. The app tracks these over time and displays trends in the Analytics tab. You can set threshold alerts to be notified when values go outside optimal ranges.

What are optimal environmental ranges?

Optimal ranges vary by growth stage. Generally: Temperature 68-85°F (20-30°C), Humidity 40-70% (lower in flower), pH 6.0-7.0 for soil or 5.5-6.5 for hydro, EC 0.8-2.0 depending on stage. Check the Learn tab for detailed stage-specific guidance.

How does the AI photo assessment work?

The AI Photo Assessment reviews visible leaves, colors, and patterns in a plant photo and suggests possible observations. To use it, open a photo in your journal entry and tap "Analyze Photo". Results are informational only, may be wrong, and are not a diagnosis or a substitute for qualified horticultural advice.

How should I use the AI assessment?

Treat the AI as a starting point, not a definitive diagnosis. It works best with clear, well-lit photos focused on affected areas. Cross-reference suggestions with the troubleshooting guides in our Learn section, your own measurements, and qualified horticultural advice before making changes.

How do reminders work?

Reminders send push notifications for scheduled tasks like watering, feeding, or inspections. Open your grow settings and tap "Reminders" to set up schedules. You can customize frequency, time of day, and which tasks to track. Notifications deep-link directly to your grow for quick logging.

What happens if I miss a reminder?

The app tracks missed tasks and will remind you again when you open the app. Missed reminders appear as a notification badge and a prompt on your home screen. You can mark tasks as complete, skip them, or snooze for later.

Can I export my grow data?

Yes! Go to Settings > Data > Export Data to download your grow records. Data is exported in JSON format and includes all entries, photos, environmental data, and milestones. This is great for keeping backups or analyzing your grows in external tools.

Is my data private and secure?

Yes, your data is stored securely and only accessible to you. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest. Photos are stored in secure cloud storage linked to your account. We never share your personal data with third parties.

How do I change my password?

Go to your Profile tab, tap "Edit Profile", then select "Change Password". You'll need to enter your current password and then your new password twice to confirm. For security, choose a unique password with at least 8 characters.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings > Data > Delete Account. This action is permanent and will delete all your grows, entries, photos, and personal data. You'll be asked to confirm before deletion. Consider exporting your data first if you want to keep records.
